A course to create a miniature Roman mosaic, perhaps one that has become etched on your mind after visiting a museum or archaeological site.

Paying careful attention to the process of choosing different types of marble to obtain a wide range of shades of colour, you will cut tiles of 5mm x 5mm, using a mallet.

All of our intensive courses aim to help you learn each of the phases needed in the production of a mosaic, without jumping ahead. At the end of the course students will have learned all the techniques needed to continue working independently, as well as having a deep understanding of the work, skill and time that goes in to making a mosaic.

As with all of our intensive courses, food and board are free of charge, and normally breakfast and lunch are cooked and eaten together using the highest quality local products (cheeses, vegetables, flour and eggs).

Lessons are offered individually or to groups. No previous experience is necessary only patience and a curiosity to learn. All tools and materials are provided and the studio is open outside teaching hours for students to continue to practice and work on their piece. At the end of the course, your work is yours to take home with you.
